We have started work building 43 affordable homes in the beautiful village of Long Bennington located off the A1 inbetween Grantham and Newark.

The development will offer a selection of homes to support the housing need of the area. 15 homes will be sold for shared ownership and the remaining 28 will be let at an affordable rent. 

We are working in partnership with South Kesteven Council, Homes England and MyPad to deliver this new scheme which is due to be completed by summer 2024.

What is shared ownership?

Shared ownership is another way to buy your own home. You buy a percentage, and pay rent on the rest. The housing association owns part of it - but you're living there, you decorate it, and you decide when to sell.

Buying a percentage means a smaller deposit and smaller mortgage. It's a sooner first step on the ladder for lots of people. Usually, you can also carry on buying shares, to own it 100%.

The properties are sold on a 990 year shared ownership lease.

Who qualifies?

Anyone who does not currently own or part own a property and has a household income of less than £80,000 per year can apply.

You must have a local connection to Long Bennington and can include the following:

1. You were born in Long Bennington
2. You have lived in Long Bennington for at least 12 months
3. You used to live in Long Bennington for at least three years and had to move away due to lack of affordable housing
4. You are a carer for a relative in the area.

How to apply

You will be required to complete an application form when we start advertising the homes for sale.

Your affordability will be assessed based on the information you provide on the application form. NCHA will make an offer based on the amount you can afford, between 25 - 75%. If your application is successful a non-refundable reservation fee of £350 is required to reserve your new home, this amount goes towards your deposit on completion.
