The Development department is responsible for one of the largest programmes of activity in the East Midlands, having provided on average 200 - 250 new homes each year since NCHA was founded in 1973.

Working in close partnership with Local Authorities, the Homes and Communities Agency, Developers and our own in-house design and contract management team, the Development department supplies property aquisition and development services to NCHA, its subsidiaries and partners. A wide range of projects are taken from inception through to completion including new build, rehabilitation, general needs and supported housing plus ancillary accommodation, such as shops, offices and play facilities. In 2006 NCHA and Longhurst Group founded Blue Skies Consortium which is made of up to 16 Registered Providers. All of the development services for the Blue Skies Consortium are provided by POD, a company Owned by NCHA and Longhurst Group, and staffed by the two Development teams from NCHA and Longhurst Group. In recent Years NCHA, through POD, has provided development services to Local Authorities carrying out their own Council House Building Programme.
